Senior Manager, Product Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee and lead product engineering teams tasked with the design, development, testing, and deployment of enterprise-level applications.

• Develop and implement engineering strategies that align with product and business goals.

• Design and construct scalable backend systems utilizing Java and Spring Boot.

• Spearhead the creation and development of RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed applications.

• Evaluate technical designs, code, architectural choices, and engineering methodologies to ensure adherence to high-quality and scalable standards.

• Engage extensively with SQL and relational databases, focusing on query optimization, data modeling, performance tuning, and issue resolution.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Business, QA, DevOps, and other stakeholders to convert business needs into effective technical solutions.

• Own the complete delivery of engineering projects, encompassing planning, execution, release, and post-production support.

• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and constraints while implementing suitable mitigation strategies.

• Establish engineering best practices regarding coding standards, architecture, testing, security, performance, and deployment.

• Mentor and cultivate engineering managers, technical leads, and senior engineers, promoting a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.

• Propel Agile development practices, including sprint planning, estimation, prioritization, and timely delivery of product features.

• Monitor application performance, reliability, scalability, and overall operational health.

• Collaborate with senior leadership to outline technology roadmaps and assess new technologies and engineering methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• 11–20 years of experience in software/product engineering, with substantial experience in leadership roles within engineering.

• Profound expertise in Java and object-oriented programming principles.

• Extensive background in Spring Boot and enterprise-level backend applications.

• Strong command of SQL, relational databases, data modeling, query optimization, and database performance tuning.

• Experience in designing and implementing REST APIs and microservices.

• Comprehensive understanding of software architecture, design patterns, distributed systems, scalability, and performance enhancement.

• Proven track record in leading and mentoring large or cross-functional engineering teams.

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of effectively collaborating with both technical and business leadership.

• Experience in managing multiple projects and engineering priorities within a dynamic product environment.

• Familiarity with Supply Chain Management platforms or enterprise supply chain applications is a plus.

• Knowledge of Order Management Systems (OMS) and order lifecycle processes is beneficial.

• Understanding of Order Processing, fulfillment workflows, inventory integration, and related business processes is advantageous.

• Exposure to e-commerce, retail, logistics, manufacturing, or other transaction-oriented sectors is advantageous.

• Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes, or DevOps practices is beneficial.

• Familiarity with event-driven architecture, messaging systems, and distributed transaction processing is a plus.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
