Senior Manager, Product Documentation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute a comprehensive documentation strategy that aligns with product roadmaps, insights from customer journeys, and business objectives.

• Uphold and implement content standards, style guides, taxonomy, and accessibility requirements across all documentation platforms.

• Collaborate with our Systems & Automation team to assess and introduce AI-driven efficiencies in documentation processes.

• Establish measurable quality and performance standards for documentation; leverage data to pinpoint gaps, prioritize enhancements, and showcase impact to senior stakeholders.

• Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging practices, including AI-assisted authoring, structured content methodologies, and docs-as-code approaches.

• Directly oversee a team of technical writers across various content domains, offering coaching, clear objectives, regular feedback, and valuable opportunities for professional advancement.

• Recruit, onboard, and nurture documentation talent; design team structure and capacity planning in accordance with product roadmap requirements and strategic goals.

• Cultivate a high-performing, inclusive team environment that emphasizes curiosity, craftsmanship, and accountability.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in technical writing, content strategy, or a closely related field, with a minimum of 3 years in a management role within documentation or content teams.

• Proven success in leading documentation initiatives for enterprise SaaS or B2B software products.

• Strong leadership qualities: you quickly build trust, provide constructive honest feedback, and create conditions that enable your team to excel.

• Exceptional written communication skills – you can create polished, precise content yourself and set a benchmark for others to aspire to.

• Solid analytical skills: you utilize data to prioritize tasks, craft compelling narratives for senior stakeholders, and make a strong case for investment.

• Extensive knowledge of modern documentation toolchains (e.g., Mkdocs, MadCap Flare, Confluence, or similar) and principles of structured content.

• Strong understanding of Agile development workflows and experience effectively integrating documentation into engineering release cycles.

• Excellent project management and prioritization abilities; adept at handling multiple concurrent workstreams and adapting to shifting priorities with ease.
