This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee CAA’s consultation processes regarding regulatory, technical, and policy-related matters with producers, trade associations, and other stakeholders.
• Organize, design, and lead structured consultation processes, which include working groups, advisory committees, and member forums.
• Educate and foster consensus around policy formulation and regulatory strategies.
• Act as a reliable liaison between CAA, Founding Members, trade associations, and various stakeholders.
• Assist in policy formulation, harmonization initiatives, and strategic outreach efforts.
• Develop and manage policy communications for both internal and external stakeholders, encompassing key messages, PowerPoint presentations, briefing notes, Q&As, and background documents.
• Collaborate with CAA’s Communications Team to create audience-specific communication materials.
• Enhance CAA’s thought leadership and promote EPR harmonization.
• Monitor, evaluate, and investigate EPR policies and overarching trends.
• Engage in relevant policy discussions and learning sessions to remain updated on EPR best practices.
• Support policy and program planning where CAA may serve as the PRO.
• Report directly to the Director of Policy Analysis.
• Execute other job-related tasks as assigned.
• A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in public policy, environmental studies, sustainability, or a related field.
• Over 7 years of experience in public policy.
• A minimum of 2 years of direct experience with EPR, ideally in the context of paper and packaging EPR.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, analytical, and collateral material development abilities.
• Capability to summarize and convey findings efficiently.
• Proficient with PowerPoint, demonstrating experience in creating executive-level presentations and briefing materials tailored to various audiences.
• Preferred experience in policy communication.
• Preferred background in working with or alongside a trade association, industry group, or member-based organization.
• Familiarity with SmartSheets is preferred.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in uncertain situations, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and discern when issues necessitate escalation versus independent resolution.
• Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and research capabilities, including in-depth policy analysis, feedback collection, and assessment of implications from diverse perspectives.
• Capacity to operate independently in a dynamic environment, lead and manage multiple projects concurrently, handle competing priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with various teams.
• Competence in convening, managing, and facilitating multi-stakeholder meetings, working groups, and committees.
• Proficiency in navigating differing viewpoints and driving towards consensus outcomes.
