Senior Manager, Platform Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with technical product management and business stakeholders to guide technology direction, make technical decisions, and deliver products.

• Engage with engineering teams and enterprise architecture.

• Work together on integration initiatives, establish best practices, and introduce new technologies.

• Commit to roadmaps detailing capabilities and timelines.

• Assess and incorporate new products and technologies.

• Align technology initiatives with business strategy and steer technical direction across the organization.

• Embrace Continuous Integration/Deployment (CI/CD) methodologies and establish a regular release cadence.

• Oversee Software Engineering and Quality Assurance Engineer teams, including both full-time and contract personnel.

• Directly manage a team of 7–15 full-time regular employees and/or contractors.

• Conduct interviews, hire, train, assign tasks, guide, and evaluate employees; recognize and address performance issues; resolve complaints and conflicts.

• Lead and mentor members of the engineering team.

• Provide innovation-driven thought leadership and share information on product development, engineering, and development methodologies.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Six (6) years of demonstrated experience in software engineering leadership roles.

• Proven track record in engineering delivery and execution, with comprehensive experience across the entire product development lifecycle.

• Ability to attract talent, motivate the organization, and cultivate future leaders.

• Capacity to foster trusting and meaningful relationships with peers, stakeholders, and partners.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including influencing technical decisions, managing conflicts, negotiating, and delivering presentations.

• Strong commitment to customer satisfaction.

• Identify and promote innovation in products, technologies, processes, and solutions.

• Maintain high standards, results-oriented, proactive, and dedicated to delivering high-quality software on schedule and within budget.

• Possess leadership skills such as coaching/mentoring, critical thinking, facilitation, change leadership, and team development.

• Experience in software development and automation, including Agile, CI/CD, DevOps, build and test automation, orchestration/fulfillment, assurance, and performance.

• Relevant experience with large-scale application architecture/design, middleware architecture, integration architecture, application deployment methods, automation, testing, compliance, and auditing.

• Familiarity with service-oriented and microservice architecture for highly available cloud-hosted applications and services in AWS.

• Understanding of UI/UX principles and best practices.

• Ability and motivation to thrive in a proactive, high-pressure environment.

• Proficient in writing technical specifications and possess strong estimating and planning abilities.

• Experience with object-oriented design and design patterns.

• Solid understanding of source control and effective utilization.

• Experience collaborating with offshore and distributed teams.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web applications.

• Willingness to travel 5% of the time.

• Ability to pass required background checks.

• Desired: Five (5) years of experience working on and/or leading Agile teams.

• Desired: Five (5) years of extensive knowledge of Java.

• Desired: Three (3) years of experience with Angular.

• Desired: Two (2) years of experience with AWS.

• Desired: One (1) year of experience developing Progressive Web Apps (PWA).

• Desired: One (1) year of experience with Polymer or Stencil.

• Desired experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Data, MyBatis, Hibernate, ActiveMQ, Angular, Backbone, ExtJS, Ionic, Oracle, Postgres, Neo4j, NodeJs, React, Python, MongoDB, and Redis.
