This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
• Lead, mentor, and develop one or more teams of data analysts, engineers, and scientists.
• Promote a culture of collaboration and innovation within the team.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of data and analytics projects.
• Prioritize and allocate resources effectively to meet project demands and strategic goals.
• Convert business requirements into actionable analytics initiatives with cross-functional teams.
• Act as the main point of contact for stakeholders and ensure effective communication and project alignment.
• Ensure compliance with data governance, standards, privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
• Implement best practices for data management and quality assurance.
• Monitor and report KPIs for projects and initiatives.
• Provide senior leadership with updates regarding analytics progress and impact.
• Influence the strategic direction of the data and analytics function.
• Identify opportunities to utilize data for enhancing business value.
• Apply emerging technologies and keep abreast of industry trends.
• Assess and enhance processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Streamline team operations to align with business priorities.
• Guide architectural decisions, review technical approaches, and contribute hands-on as needed.
• Manage complex operations and deliver high-impact data insights for strategic decision-making.
• Mentor junior managers, team leads, and data scientists.
• Establish and scale best practices for data management and analysis.
• Develop data governance policies and ensure the scalability of analytics efforts.
• Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in data analytics, data science, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in a leadership or managerial role overseeing data teams and projects.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop diverse teams of data professionals.
• Proficiency in data analytics tools, Python, SQL, and data management platforms.
• Demonstrated experience in managing complex data projects, including resource allocation and timeline management.
• Capability to translate business needs into actionable data strategies.
• Expertise in implementing and enforcing data governance and compliance policies.
• Strong ability to communicate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in data outputs.
• Advanced, production-grade object-oriented Python development skills.
• Hands-on experience with AWS ECS and ECR.
• Familiarity with AWS services including S3, IAM, Lambda, EC2, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail.
• Experience with Snowflake account administration, virtual warehouse clustering, budget optimization, Data Sharing, Time Travel, and zero-copy cloning.
• Experience managing multi-repository dbt projects and dbt Cloud environments.
• Proficiency in advanced dbt models and custom macros.
• Daily proficiency with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude/OpenAI APIs.
• Familiarity with Snowflake Cortex or AWS Bedrock.
• Exposure to LangChain, vector databases, or text embedding generation.
• Knowledge of incremental loading and Change Data Capture (CDC) methods.
• Extensive experience with complex external REST APIs.
• Advanced understanding of Git/GitHub branching strategies, pull request enforcement, and automated deployment pipelines.
• Ability to operate computer equipment and perform necessary physical activities, including lifting and moving up to 25 lbs.
• AWS certification is a strong advantage; CAP, PMP, and other relevant technical certifications are beneficial.
