This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish and expand the operational framework for Affirm’s new banking division.
• Oversee the implementation, configuration, and administration of Finxact as the core system of record for the Bank.
• Manage operational delivery and the administration of Savana along with integrated digital account-opening, online, and mobile banking experiences.
• Convert customer and operational requirements into actionable specifications.
• Lead user acceptance testing, prepare for releases, resolve issues, and enhance the platform.
• Supervise operational launch preparation, which includes designing operating models, establishing procedures, staffing, training, testing, cutover, go/no-go evidence, hypercare, and transitioning to standard operations.
• Direct daily deposit operations, including reconciliations, ACH and wire processing, exceptions, account maintenance, regulatory reporting, and fraud investigation support.
• Manage lending operations, including underwriting, eligibility validation, funding approvals, loan boarding, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Oversee operations related to loan purchases and sales, including settlement, boarding validation, and audits.
• Develop and maintain the Bank’s operational control environment, which includes procedures, maker-checker controls, access reviews, quality assurance, issue remediation, and audit preparedness.
• Collaborate with Compliance on BSA/AML, OFAC, consumer protection, privacy, funds availability, payments, complaints, and other relevant requirements.
• Supervise the oversight of affiliate-provided services alongside critical technology, payments, document, and operations vendors.
• Evaluate vendor performance, capacity, releases, incidents, control reports, continuity measures, disaster recovery, and manual workarounds.
• Lead and nurture the Bank Operations team through capacity planning, cross-training, performance management, succession planning, and escalation coverage.
• Establish operational metrics and deliver reporting and recommendations to Bank leadership.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data, Accounting, Finance, Treasury, Lending, Compliance, Risk, Information Security, Fraud, Customer Care, Internal Audit, and third-party stakeholders.
• 8+ years of pertinent experience in banking operations, digital banking, financial technology, or core-platform implementation.
• Significant experience in team leadership and operations within a regulated financial institution.
• Practical experience in implementing, configuring, converting, or managing a core banking platform.
• Experience with Finxact or a similar modern cloud-native, API-first core system is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in managing digital account-opening and online or mobile banking platforms.
• Experience in coordinating integrations, user acceptance testing, releases, production support, and vendor-driven changes.
• Extensive understanding of deposit and lending operations, including ACH, wires, checks and in-clearing, account funding, reconciliations, general ledger impacts, exception management, loan funding and boarding, and loan purchase or sale settlement.
• Ability to create and implement effective controls, including segregation of duties, approval authorities, reconciliations, access management, quality assurance, issue management, recordkeeping, and support for audits or regulatory examinations.
• Strong comprehension of regulatory and risk expectations relevant to deposit, lending, payments, third-party services, consumer protection, privacy, business continuity, and operational resilience activities.
• Experience in managing critical technology and operations vendors, service levels, incidents, root cause analysis, remediation commitments, and executive escalations.
• Excellent judgment, analytical problem-solving skills, and strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience is anticipated.
• Familiarity with SQL, data pipelines, and business intelligence tools is advantageous.
• Willingness to provide periodic after-hours support for releases, cutovers, significant incidents, and business continuity events.
