This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-efficient operation of Onward Energy's solar fleet, which encompasses more than 1,800 MWdc across 36 facilities.
• Provide leadership to a team of around 45 employees.
• Attain fleet safety, availability, reliability, production, maintenance, and financial goals.
• Advocate for fleet-wide safety performance, incident prevention, corrective action programs, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Hold accountability for operational performance, contractual commitments, regulatory standards, and budget adherence.
• Set fleet performance targets and spearhead initiatives that enhance asset reliability and operational outcomes.
• Lead operational readiness, emergency response, and business continuity planning.
• Mentor and develop geographically distributed managers, supervisors, and technicians.
• Cultivate a high-performing organization through talent development, succession planning, workforce management, and performance evaluation.
• Enhance fleet-wide reliability and performance through data analysis, root cause investigation, standardization, and sharing of best practices.
• Support the integration of new technologies, predictive maintenance techniques, and operational excellence initiatives.
• Develop and oversee fleet operating and maintenance budgets.
• Drive cost efficiency while upholding safety, reliability, and compliance standards.
• Assess and propose capital investments, major maintenance projects, life-cycle replacements, and strategic enhancement initiatives.
• Contribute to business planning and offer operational insights for long-term asset strategies.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize asset value.
• Deliver fleet performance reports, strategic recommendations, and operational updates to executive leadership.
• Assist with acquisitions, integrations, new asset onboarding, and other strategic initiatives.
• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field is required; equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
• An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in power generation operations, including substantial utility-scale solar experience.
• At least 7 years of progressive leadership experience managing operations and teams across multiple sites.
• A minimum of 5 years leading an organization through subordinate managers across a wide geographic area.
• Proven success in fostering strong safety cultures and developing high-performing teams.
• Extensive knowledge of solar operations, maintenance, reliability, budgeting, compliance, and contractor management.
• Demonstrated ability to enhance operational performance through data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong business acumen, with the ability to balance operational priorities with financial objectives.
• High proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Capable of meeting physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to stand, walk, talk, hear, and possess both near and distant vision capabilities.
• Ability to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and/or crouch.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
• A valid U.S. driver's license with an acceptable MVR history.
• Willingness to travel regularly, up to 45% of the time.
