This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.
• Guide, mentor, and cultivate a team of Accounts Payable professionals.
• Define roles and responsibilities while managing performance expectations.
• Promote a high-performing, service-oriented culture that emphasizes responsiveness and accuracy.
• Oversee team capacity, prioritize workloads, and facilitate skill development.
• Ensure invoices and payments are processed timely and accurately in accordance with company policies and SLAs.
• Manage payment runs while ensuring compliance with approval and authorization protocols.
• Monitor accounts payable aging, identify bottlenecks, and address outstanding issues.
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Address vendor inquiries, payment-related issues, and disputes efficiently.
• Take ownership of AP process requirements and enhance workflows in Coupa and NetSuite with Finance Systems/IT.
• Increase the use of electronic payments while minimizing manual processes.
• Support the adoption of supplier portals and assist with vendor onboarding.
• Supervise fraud prevention measures, vendor validation, and payment verification processes.
• Ensure SOX compliance, maintain segregation of duties, and manage approval workflows.
• Prepare for and facilitate both internal and external audits.
• Identify control deficiencies and spearhead remediation efforts.
• Manage AP close activities, including subledger reconciliations and aging reviews.
• Provide reporting on AP performance and trends.
• Collaborate with Treasury on cash flow planning and payment timing.
• Standardize and document AP processes, policies, and procedures.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency, scalability, and accuracy.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Over 8 years of progressive experience in Accounts Payable, including more than 3 years in a leadership position.
• Strong comprehension of AP processes, P2P workflows, and accounting principles.
• Experience within a SOX-compliant environment.
• Proficient in ERP systems such as NetSuite and AP automation tools like Coupa.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
• Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in a high-growth or transforming organization.
• Proven track record of implementing process improvements or system upgrades.
• Experience in leading remote or distributed teams.
