Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Offer support for ongoing projects that involve the installation, upgrading, testing, configuration, and implementation of ISV software.

• Monitor software performance and provide on-call assistance.

• Conduct research and assess new software solutions.

• Aid team members and other departments with technical inquiries and problem-solving.

• Engage in the on-call rotation.

• Address incidents and troubleshooting issues.

• Manage incidents, changes, and problems effectively.

• Configure and tailor systems to meet specific needs.

• Establish system parameters.

• Communicate with vendors as necessary.

• Actively participate and contribute to technical projects.

• Assist in resolving issues and implementing changes.

• Provide mainframe systems programming support; please note this is not an Applications Programming role.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 7+ years of experience in a mainframe environment within a large enterprise, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• A Bachelor’s degree is required, along with relevant work experience.

• Proficient knowledge of z/OS and its installation and maintenance, including SMP/E.

• Solid expertise in TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and JCL.

• Strong understanding of Unix System Services (USS).

• Comprehensive knowledge of USS file system management and security.

• Capability to perform the duties expected of a Mainframe System Programmer.

• Ability to execute moderately complex ISV installations.

• Familiarity with z/OS security protocols.

• Acquainted with z/OS systems programming functions.

• Understanding of z/OS services structure, including Parallel Sysplex and Catalog management.

• Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
