This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Korea.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive localization strategy tailored for the Japanese market.
• Establish best practices, guidelines, and quality standards for internationalization and localization within Engineering and Product teams.
• Manage localization timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and launch preparedness across various geographic regions.
• Supervise the localization of hardware interfaces, ensuring compatibility in terms of font, layout, screen constraints, and character sets on POS devices and payment hardware.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to incorporate Localization Management Systems and Translation Management Systems into CI/CD pipelines for ongoing, automated translation deployment.
• Guarantee precise translation and adaptation of intricate financial workflows, encompassing multi-currency transactions, tax computations, localized invoicing formats, and payment regulatory disclosures.
• Oversee linguistic quality assurance and testing for both physical hardware devices and digital platforms.
• Work alongside Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams to ensure localized content adheres to regional financial regulations, data privacy laws, and local payment industry standards.
• Maintain style guides, terminology glossaries, and translation memories focused on financial technology, SaaS operations, and hardware user interfaces.
• Select, onboard, and manage external Language Service Providers, freelance translators, and linguistic quality assurance testers.
• Monitor Language Service Provider performance and set KPIs regarding translation accuracy, turnaround times, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with Marketing and regional go-to-market teams to produce localized marketing materials, merchant support documentation, and onboarding processes.
• Demonstrated experience in managing comprehensive localization programs for software and digital products across various markets.
• Experience in localizing products specifically for the Japanese market.
• Native or near-native fluency in Japanese is an advantage.
• Strong preference for candidates with experience in fintech, payments, financial services, or other regulated sectors.
• Solid understanding of internationalization (i18n), localization (l10n), linguistic quality assurance (LQA), and localization best practices.
• Hands-on experience with CAT tools or translation management systems, such as Smartling.
• Familiarity with project-tracking tools like Jira.
• Practical experience utilizing LLMs and AI-assisted translation workflows.
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, Engineering, Legal, Compliance, and external localization vendors.
• Strong vendor management capabilities, including oversight of language service providers, quality metrics, timelines, and budgets.
• Ability to handle multiple projects, communicate technical requirements effectively, and deliver high-quality localization under tight deadlines.
• Highly desirable experience in localizing hardware interfaces, mobile applications, web dashboards, or payment-related workflows.
• Availability for a full-time initial interim assignment of 3–6 months, with the potential for extension.
• Opportunity for extension beyond the initial 3–6-month interim assignment.
