Senior Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Draft, negotiate, and finalize a diverse range of agreements while overseeing the entire process for all client and vendor contracts.

• Assist with all commercial and contractual matters, as well as deal flow for OpenZeppelin.

• Provide risk-based guidance to business leaders, weighing commercial benefits against legal, financial, operational, and reputational risks.

• Support the General Counsel in matters related to intellectual property strategy, licensing, open source issues, privacy, compliance, acquisitions, and other relevant areas.

• Collaborate with teams across Sales, Finance, Operations, HR, and IT & Security.

• Design and implement automated contracting and compliance processes leveraging AI and advanced tools.

• Develop and execute staff training and compliance protocols for a regulated and publicly traded entity.

• Oversee legal documentation and corporate governance procedures for organizations operating in multiple jurisdictions.

• Lead designated projects and take ownership of initiatives that align with personal interests.

⛳️ Requirements

• 8-10 years of pertinent legal experience, including in-house tenure at a rapidly growing company within the blockchain and digital assets sector.

• Proven experience and extensive knowledge in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements in the blockchain domain, including expertise in open source.

• Highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail.

• Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills with a pragmatic, business-oriented approach to legal analysis and risk evaluation.

• Comfortable managing high levels of responsibility and self-direction, with outstanding follow-through and the capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, including the capacity to explain complex subjects to individuals without legal expertise.

• A law degree and a license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction.
