
Senior Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Deliver practical legal counsel in a dynamic global business environment
• Recognize legal challenges and solutions while taking responsibility for achieving successful outcomes
• Examine, negotiate, and provide guidance on commercial contracts, including MSAs, partnership agreements, vendor terms, NDAs, and BAAs
• Offer advice on employment law, litigation risks, and strategic direction
• Draft and revise legal templates as necessary
• Manage law enforcement and regulatory inquiries, including subpoenas, warrants, and compliance requests
• Counsel on intellectual property rights and brand protection
• Foster collaborative relationships with developers, product owners, and teams throughout Jane
• Articulate legal implications in practical, real-world terms
• Develop and enhance the Legal team’s AI capabilities, including automated intake, contract analysis, and document management
• Mentor team members and colleagues across Jane
• Over 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney, with in-house experience advising high-growth technology firms
• Admitted to the bar in Canada; preference for Ontario or British Columbia
• Admission to the US bar is advantageous
• Proven expertise in at least three of the following areas: commercial contracts, privacy legislation, healthcare regulations, litigation risk, employment law, and corporate governance
• Exceptional communication skills with the capacity to clarify complex issues
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Strong aptitude for prioritizing multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting
• High ethical standards and discretion in managing confidential information
• Proficient in utilizing AI and technology for legal tasks, including contract evaluation and legal research
• Experience in developing and managing legal processes and products is highly desirable
• Background in scaling companies or working in entrepreneurial environments across various jurisdictions is highly desirable
• Must currently reside and work in Canada
• Must be eligible to work in Canada without employer sponsorship
• Unable to accommodate relocation, visa sponsorship, or employment via a third party or employer of record
• Annual salary range of $158,400 - $247,500
