Senior Lab Genetic Counselor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Assist SelectHealth initiatives by evaluating genetic testing pre-authorization requests, appeals, and medical coverage policies.

• Inform ordering providers about genetic testing choices, insurance and billing issues, test outcomes, and medical management.

• Occasionally provide patient education and counseling regarding genetic testing options or results.

• Conduct utilization reviews and laboratory stewardship to ascertain appropriate test ordering and manage high-priority or complex cases.

• Engage in both individual and team-directed research projects.

• Present research outcomes at professional conferences.

• Prepare manuscripts for submission to professional publications.

• Communicate effectively and directly with providers and patients both verbally and in writing.

• Participate in peer reviews by offering and receiving objective, constructive feedback.

⛳️ Requirements

• Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from an accredited institution.

• Eligibility for certification by the American Board of Genetic Counselors (ABGC) at the time of hire, with certification required within one year of employment.

• Licensed as a Genetic Counselor in the state of practice (Utah).

• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Experience in reading, interpreting, and critically assessing scientific literature.

• Proficiency in utilizing PowerPoint, word processing software, spreadsheets, databases, internet, email, and scheduling tools.

• Experience that demands effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.

• Ability to verbally express and comprehend spoken information.

• Competence in operating computers, telephones, and office equipment, and handling paperwork.

• Ability to see and read computer screens and documents.

• Capacity to remain seated or standing for extended durations while performing work tasks.
