Senior Kubernetes Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain Kubernetes deployments that support cloud-based microservices architectures in AWS EKS.

• Automate the processes of application deployment and scaling to enhance operational efficiency.

• Monitor the health of Kubernetes clusters, troubleshoot technical challenges, and ensure system availability, reliability, and performance.

• Collaborate with development teams to facilitate CI/CD pipelines and offer guidance on best practices for containerized applications.

• Implement security best practices for Kubernetes, including network policies and disaster recovery protocols.

• Manage and support containerized applications along with the associated Kubernetes infrastructure.

• Apply networking concepts in Kubernetes, including CNI plugins and ingress controllers such as Kubernetes Gateway.

• Utilize Helm and Kustomize for managing the application layer within Kubernetes.

• Manage and employ observability tools like Grafana and Istio.

• Diagnose and resolve intricate technical issues within Kubernetes environments.

• Stay updated with new Kubernetes features and tools, integrating relevant technologies as necessary.

• Collaborate with customers, development teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders.

• Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong grasp of Kubernetes concepts, including pods, services, and deployments.

• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.

• Proven experience in managing Kubernetes within AWS EKS environments.

• Familiarity with Kubernetes networking, including CNI plugins and ingress controllers like Kubernetes Gateway.

• Experience using Helm and Kustomize for configuration and application management.

• Proficient in managing and utilizing observability tools such as Grafana and Istio.

• Experience in supporting CI/CD pipelines and automating deployments.

• Knowledge of Kubernetes security best practices, network policies, and disaster recovery methodologies.

• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues in Kubernetes environments.

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

• Excellent communication skills with the capability to collaborate effectively with customers and cross-functional teams.

• Keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical issues.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

• Must pass pre-employment qualifications set by Cherokee Federal.
