Senior Journalist – Racing Post

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Deliver a consistent stream of exclusive content alongside a substantial volume of compelling stories.

• Rapidly gain insight into the audience to customize content for optimal engagement.

• Craft expert analyses, commentary, and explainers to create in-depth packages surrounding major stories.

• Establish and nurture a leading contacts book in the sports sector.

• Generate audio-visual content as part of editorial packages.

• Propose story ideas to the Ireland editor and execute them with creativity.

• Actively share ideas for news, special reports, and investigative stories during planning sessions with the broader news team.

• Keep a close watch on the daily news landscape in racing, betting, and adjacent areas to spot and report on interesting developments.

• Cover Irish horseracing both on and off the track.

• Write columns, special reports, features, and articles from significant racedays.

• Participate in Racing Post video shows as an authority on Irish racing.

• Strong understanding of the horseracing scene in Ireland and its interconnected industries.

• Proven track record of successful collaboration across teams.

• Experience utilizing racing and industry data to inform storytelling, with an eye for identifying key trends and statistics.

• Proficient in using performance analytics to guide the approach to story identification and execution.

• Excellent command of written English with a keen attention to detail.

• Ability to take initiative, work under tight deadlines, and operate independently.

• Strong communication skills.

• A team-oriented individual capable of motivating, supporting, and developing colleagues.
