This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Conduct research, identify, pitch, and cultivate original story ideas that align with Connect for Health Colorado’s mission and communication strategy.

• Oversee multimedia projects from inception to publication, including research, planning, interviewing, field reporting, writing, recording, editing, fact-checking, and distribution.

• Perform interviews with customers, community members, Brokers, Assisters, healthcare professionals, leaders, policymakers, experts, and other key stakeholders.

• Utilize portable production equipment to capture high-quality video, photography, interviews, voiceovers, and ambient sound.

• Write and refine scripts, articles, profiles, captions, video descriptions, social media content, and other editorial materials.

• Edit video, photography, and audio using professional desktop or mobile editing software.

• Create and publish content across various platforms including the website, social media, email communications, presentations, partner networks, media outreach, and internal communications.

• Transform long-form stories into short-form videos, social media clips, photographs, written profiles, audio segments, and reusable content assets.

• Simplify health insurance concepts, policy changes, enrollment details, and organizational initiatives into clear and accurate narratives.

• Adhere to journalistic and organizational standards regarding accuracy, fairness, transparency, attribution, corrections, privacy, consent, and conflict of interest.

• Obtain releases, permissions, and consent prior to recording or publishing any content.

• Collaborate with Legal, Policy, Compliance, Communications, and other departments on sensitive, regulated, confidential, or evolving information.

• Implement accessibility standards, including captions, transcripts, alternative text, readable graphics, and plain language.

• Travel across Colorado to document customer and community experiences, partner initiatives, enrollment activities, public events, and issues related to health coverage.

• Report directly to the Senior Manager, Marketing.


⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a resident of Colorado.

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, digital media, film, broadcasting, multimedia production, or a related field; equivalent professional experience along with a robust multimedia portfolio will be considered.

• Online reel or resume tape showcasing work samples is required.

• A minimum of five years of professional experience in journalism, multimedia storytelling, documentary production, digital communications, video production, or closely related fields.

• Proven ability to independently produce stories from initial concept to final publication.

• A professional portfolio that demonstrates skills in reporting, interviewing, writing, videography, photography, audio recording, and editing.

• Strong news judgment is essential.

• Exceptional writing, editing, interviewing, fact-checking, and verbal communication skills are necessary.

• Capability to clearly and accessibly convey complex policy, regulatory, technical, or health insurance information.

• Proficiency in handling portable digital cameras, smartphones, lenses, tripods, stabilizers, external microphones, audio recorders, headphones, and compact lighting equipment.

• Familiarity with professional video and audio editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.

• Experience with photography and graphic production tools like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, or Canva.

• Competence in capturing usable video, audio, and photography under diverse field conditions.

• Ability to manage multiple assignments, schedules, logistics, travel arrangements, equipment needs, deadlines, and stakeholder reviews concurrently.

• Willingness to travel throughout Colorado for field assignments, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Flexibility to work during non-traditional hours, including weekends and evening events.
