Senior Java, IoT Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Create and develop high-volume, low-latency applications for critical telecom systems, ensuring optimal availability and performance.

• Engage in all stages of the development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and support.

• Produce well-structured, testable, and efficient Java code that adheres to enterprise standards.

• Incorporate IoT devices and platforms into enterprise applications for secure data ingestion, processing, and analytics.

• Implement communication protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, and AMQP, ensuring compatibility with telecom infrastructure.

• Prepare and release software components, including IoT edge services and cloud integrations.

• Assess emerging IoT technologies and frameworks, presenting findings for architectural evaluation.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable IoT architectures that encompass device management, telemetry, and security.

• Take part in client discussions and conduct project-specific technical assessments as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Java Enterprise Programming.

• Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Practical software development experience with Java EE and the Spring Framework, including Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, and Spring Security.

• Strong understanding of Spring Integration and Spring Cloud for distributed systems.

• Expertise in object-oriented analysis and design utilizing common design patterns.

• Familiarity with JEE internals, including JAX-WS, transaction management, and JMS.

• Experience with relational databases and SQL, specifically MySQL or PostgreSQL.

• Proficient in ORM technologies such as JPA and Hibernate.

• Knowledge of web frameworks including JSF and Spring MVC.

• Experience with test-driven development practices and GIT version control.

• Hands-on experience with IoT platforms like AWS IoT Core, Azure IoT Hub, or Eclipse IoT frameworks.

• Understanding of MQTT, CoAP, AMQP, and HTTP/REST protocols.

• Experience with IoT edge computing and device management.

• Familiarity with IoT security practices, including certificate-based authentication, secure communication, and device identity management.

• Capability to design and implement real-time data pipelines for IoT telemetry.

• Willingness to work within CET ± 2 hours.
