Senior Java Engineer, Python

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Sweden.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable backend services and APIs, primarily utilizing Java.

• Produce high-quality production code as a fundamental aspect of daily tasks.

• Contribute to Python services and codebases when necessary.

• Engage with approximately three to four interconnected microservices.

• Make and impact technical and architectural choices.

• Decompose complex requirements and steer their technical implementation.

• Evaluate code and establish robust engineering standards.

• Mentor engineers and offer technical guidance without formal management duties.

• Partner with Product Owners to assess requirements, trade-offs, and delivery strategies.

• Develop and manage cloud-native services, primarily utilizing AWS.

• Deploy and operate containerized applications using Kubernetes and Docker.

• Collaborate with DevOps engineers on CI/CD, deployment, scalability, and reliability.

• Leverage data, analytics, and operational insights to inform technical decisions.

• Contribute to testing, documentation, and continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

• Facilitate the adoption of AI-assisted engineering tools and solutions where applicable.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of professional backend engineering experience.

• Strong, recent, and hands-on commercial expertise with Java.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and developing microservices or distributed systems.

• Professional experience contributing to production Python codebases.

• In-depth knowledge of AWS and cloud-native application architecture.

• Solid practical experience with Kubernetes and Docker.

• Experience in designing and integrating REST APIs.

• Good understanding of SQL and relational databases.

• Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.

• Experience in influencing architecture or leading technical decisions.

• Ability to review code and guide other engineers.

• Strong understanding of testing, maintainability, and production code quality.

• Comfortable managing multiple services and technical priorities simultaneously.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and product stakeholders.

• Professional working proficiency in English (C1+).

• Nice to have: Experience with Azure in addition to AWS.

• Nice to have: Experience in building or integrating AI-enabled products.

• Nice to have: Knowledge of analytics, data processing, or event-driven systems.

• Nice to have: Experience working in an international, distributed engineering environment.

• Nice to have: Previous experience supporting multiple engineering teams or product areas.
