Senior Java Developer – Cards

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services utilizing Java 17+ and Spring Boot.

• Create and implement REST APIs and integrations using JSON, XML, and SOAP as necessary.

• Contribute to reusable integration capabilities, minimizing application-specific point-to-point solutions when a generic service is suitable.

• Design and execute synchronous, asynchronous, and event-driven interaction patterns based on the needs of the solution.

• Integrate applications using Apache Kafka or similar enterprise messaging platforms.

• Implement authentication and authorization methods using OAuth 2.0, JWT, and enterprise access-management solutions.

• Develop automated unit and component tests using JUnit, Mockito, or comparable frameworks.

• Engage in code reviews and support clean code, security, performance, and engineering-quality standards.

• Containerize applications and facilitate delivery through Docker and platforms based on OpenShift/Kubernetes.

• Establish logging, metrics, and tracing in accordance with the organization's observability standards.

• Identify and resolve scalability, reliability, and performance concerns during development and testing.

• Create and maintain technical documentation, API specifications, and implementation notes.

• Responsibly utilize enterprise-approved generative AI tools to enhance development, testing, and documentation productivity, while ensuring validation of all generated outputs.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of practical backend development experience with Java.

• A minimum of 3 years of hands-on development experience with Spring Boot.

• At least 3 years of experience in designing and implementing REST APIs and system integrations.

• A minimum of 2 years of practical experience with Oracle Database and SQL; familiarity with PL/SQL components is expected where applicable.

• At least 2 years of experience with messaging or event-driven solutions, preferably Apache Kafka.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes or OpenShift.

• Proven experience in delivering business-critical enterprise applications throughout the complete software delivery lifecycle.

• Experience in banking, financial services, or another highly regulated industry is strongly preferred; at least 2 years of such experience is preferred for candidates with banking experience.

• At least 3 years of experience delivering integrations for card-processing or card-management systems.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience working on card issuing, card acquiring, card authorization, or card transaction processing platforms.

• Proven experience in integrating with Visa and/or Mastercard services, interfaces, or certification-related processes.

• Experience with card lifecycle processes, including card issuance, activation, renewal, replacement, tokenization, or transaction processing.
