Senior Java Developer – AWS Cloud Migration, AI Models

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, create, test, and sustain Java-based applications and services.

• Lead or assist in the migration of applications from on-premises or legacy systems to the AWS cloud.

• Evaluate existing systems and establish migration strategies, including rehosting, replatforming, refactoring, or modernization.

• Develop scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions utilizing AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS, EKS, IAM, CloudWatch, and CloudFormation.

• Implement cloud-native and microservices architectures.

• Integrate AI models or AI-enabled services to facilitate intelligent automation, analytics, or decision-making.

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical solutions.

• Troubleshoot application, infrastructure, and integration issues across development, testing, and production environments.

• Enhance application performance, reliability, scalability, and security.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code in accordance with engineering best practices.

• Support CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies for deployment and release management.

• Engage in code reviews, design reviews, and technical planning sessions.

• Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 12 years of experience, or 8 years of experience with a master’s degree.

• Extensive hands-on experience in Java development, including object-oriented design and enterprise application development.

• Demonstrated experience with AWS cloud migration projects.

• Strong comprehension of cloud architecture, deployment patterns, and AWS best practices.

• Experience with REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.

• Familiarity with AI models, machine learning principles, or AI-driven application integration.

• Experience using version control, CI/CD tools, and agile development methodologies.

• Strong skills in debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.

• The selected candidate must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

• Preferred: Experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate, JPA, or Spring Cloud.

• Preferred: Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Preferred: Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.

• Preferred: Experience with AI/ML platforms, model deployment, prompt engineering, or generative AI services.

• Preferred: Knowledge of cloud security, IAM, encryption, and compliance requirements.

• Preferred: Experience in modernizing legacy monolithic applications into cloud-native architectures.

• Preferred: Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Splunk, or Datadog.
