Senior Backend Engineer, Java, Spring Boot

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Collaborate within a small team, taking on product assignments and guiding them to completion.

• Oversee all stages of planning, development, and delivery.

• Engage in architectural design and contribute to decision-making processes.

• Conduct peer code reviews and participate in retrospectives.

• Strategize and implement improvements for the team.

• Mentor junior and mid-level team members to ensure high standards of code quality.

• Utilize technologies such as Spring Boot, Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Docker, and Astra-DB.

• Enhance architecture, scalability, and security in collaboration with seasoned engineers.

• Exhibit strong communication skills, ownership, accountability, and teamwork.

• Focus on product enhancement and elevate customer experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in backend development.

• Proficient in development with Java, preferably using Spring Boot.

• Familiarity with Test Driven Development.

• Extensive skills in unit and integration testing.

• Experience in investment and personal wealth management is a significant advantage.

• Strong mathematical skills are a considerable plus.

• Background in machine learning or related statistical training.

• Experience with a big-data stack, such as MongoDB or Cassandra.

• Understanding of financial products and stock market dynamics.

• Eagerness to learn about new technologies.

• Capability to leverage data or reliable information sources for decision-making.

• Ability to tackle complex challenges, adapt quickly, and strive for effective solutions.

• Proficiency in balancing delivery speed with code quality.

• English fluency is required.

• Knowledge of German is an advantage.

• Must reside within a time zone that is +/- 2 hours from Berlin time.
