Senior Java Backend Engineer, Spring Boot, Microservices, Kafka

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Egypt.

📋 Description

• Create, develop, and sustain high-performance backend services and REST APIs utilizing Java and Spring Boot.

• Construct and manage scalable microservices with an emphasis on reliability, maintainability, and performance.

• Design event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing workflows using Kafka or comparable streaming platforms.

• Optimize relational database solutions, including PostgreSQL, with a strong emphasis on query performance and efficient data management.

• Implement and enhance caching solutions utilizing Redis, Ignite, or similar technologies.

• Develop and integrate gRPC services for effective communication between distributed services.

• Design and implement multi-tenant backend services, ensuring appropriate tenant isolation, scalability, and security measures.

• Containerize and deploy services utilizing Docker and Kubernetes.

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment methodologies.

• Create unit, integration, and performance tests to guarantee application reliability and quality.

• Apply suitable design patterns, clean code principles, and best practices in software engineering.

• Engage in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural decision-making.

• Conduct performance profiling, troubleshooting, and tuning to optimize services under significant workloads.

• Monitor and analyze application performance, database queries, resource usage, and system bottlenecks.

• Collaborate with fellow engineers and teams to design and deliver dependable distributed systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of professional software development experience, with substantial hands-on expertise in Java.

• Extensive production experience with Java and Spring Boot.

• Demonstrated experience in building microservices and REST APIs at scale.

• Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms.

• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL or other relational databases, including query optimization and performance aspects.

• Familiarity with Redis, Apache Ignite, or similar caching technologies.

• Experience with gRPC and distributed service-to-service communication.

• Experience in designing multi-tenant applications and services.

• Proficient in using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Good understanding of CI/CD methodologies and deployment automation.

• Strong knowledge of unit testing, integration testing, and automated testing methodologies.

• Solid grasp of software design patterns, clean code practices, and SOLID principles.

• Experience participating in code reviews and collaborative software development efforts.

• Practical experience in performance profiling, load testing, troubleshooting, and application tuning.

• Strong understanding of scalable, reliable, and distributed backend architectures.
