Senior iOS Engineer – Swift/SwiftUI, Senior Android Engineer – Kotlin/Jetpack Compose

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the architecture and development of OleOle’s native iOS or Android application.

• Collaborate closely with backend, product, and design teams.

• Integrate backend APIs and real-time services.

• Develop high-performance social feeds and microblogging features.

• Implement functionality for short-form vertical video capture, upload, playback, and media management.

• Create encrypted one-to-one messaging and real-time chat features.

• Integrate voice and video calling capabilities.

• Develop contacts, invitations, and user-discovery features.

• Implement live scores, real-time match events, and push notifications.

• Integrate authentication, account management, and secure session handling.

• Incorporate wallet, payment, and rewards functionalities.

• Implement localization and translation features.

• Optimize startup time, scrolling performance, media playback, networking, caching, and battery usage.

• Ensure reliable performance under poor or intermittent network conditions.

• Oversee testing, debugging, and production reliability.

• Manage features from architecture through to App Store or Google Play production release.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of professional software engineering experience, with significant native iOS or Android development.

• Expert-level proficiency in Swift and substantial production experience with SwiftUI, or expert-level proficiency in Kotlin with strong production experience in Jetpack Compose.

• Proven track record in architecting, building, and deploying complex consumer iOS or Android applications.

• Experience developing at least one significant product involving social feeds, messaging, short-form video, live content, or real-time communications.

• Strong expertise in WebSockets and real-time/event-driven mobile applications.

• Production experience with WebRTC or similar voice/video calling technologies.

• iOS: extensive experience with AVFoundation; Swift concurrency; APNs; Keychain/secure storage; iOS lifecycle; App Store review and release processes.

• Android: extensive experience with Kotlin Coroutines and Flow; CameraX; Media3/ExoPlayer; Firebase Cloud Messaging; Android Keystore/secure storage; Android lifecycle and device/OS fragmentation.

• Strong understanding of networking, caching, memory management, and mobile performance optimization.

• Experience integrating complex backend APIs and collaborating directly with backend engineers as APIs evolve.

• Familiarity with authentication, session management, and privacy-sensitive functionalities.

• Demonstrated ability to independently manage a major application or feature from architecture to production.

• Strong skills in debugging, profiling, testing, and troubleshooting in production environments.

• Must be a hands-on engineer who actively writes production code, rather than primarily an engineering manager.

• Creative problem-solving abilities and willingness to propose and support innovative ideas.

• Ability to adapt to a wide range of challenges and technologies.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity, shifting priorities, and the challenges of a growing early-stage company.

• Entrepreneurial mindset that values independence over micromanagement.

• A strong understanding of football and international sports is a significant advantage.
