This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive feedback.
• Help engineers overcome obstacles by investigating delayed tasks.
• Recognize and standardize reusable implementations across the team.
• Ensure the maintenance of tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Lead enhancements to team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure proper releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying the foundational setup.
• Promote early verification through increased automated checks.
• Facilitate planning sessions and concentrate the team's efforts on work that requires decision-making.
• Establish review criteria and define ownership for approvals.
• Engage in discussions related to Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Manage critical situations, oversee feature releases, and supply nightly builds for QA.
• Provide learning opportunities to early-career engineers.
• Write code, review code, and actively manage features.
• Conduct technical interviews and assess candidates on a real codebase.
• Over 5 years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or ownership of a significant surface while remaining hands-on.
• Proficient in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• Comprehension of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations.
• An example of an initiative you introduced to a team that persisted after your involvement ceased, along with a candid account of the effort it required.
• Some familiarity with encouraging changes in work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• Insights on which modifications necessitate thorough reviews and which do not, supported by an understanding of system functionality.
• A proven history of creating solutions that your team actively utilized, rather than just those that enhanced your efficiency.
• Capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• An intuitive grasp of product design, user empathy, and the ambition to advance Android UI/UX beyond the specified requirements.
• A self-driven approach to enhancing the application and codebase beyond the outlined specifications.
• Exceptional communication skills.
