This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch, collaborating closely with the design team throughout the process.
• Manage, sustain, and enhance reliability metrics for essential features.
• Review pull requests and offer constructive developmental feedback.
• Help engineers overcome obstacles and investigate any impediments.
• Standardize successful implementations for the benefit of the team.
• Keep tested, clear, and consolidated shared components up to date.
• Advocate for improvements in team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention for successful releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by modifying underlying systems.
• Broaden automated verification processes prior to QA.
• Oversee planning and prioritize tasks that necessitate decision-making.
• Establish review requirements and determine approval responsibilities.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and provide nightly builds for QA.
• Assist early-career engineers with learning-focused tasks and development time.
• Write code, review code, and actively manage features.
• A minimum of 5 years in software engineering, including leadership experience or ownership of a major component while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-running background tasks.
• A clear understanding of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including limitations of test coverage.
• An example of an initiative you introduced to a team that remained effective after your involvement, along with a candid evaluation of the effort it took to achieve that.
• Some comfort with the challenging aspects of the role, such as encouraging changes in work habits and managing the resulting friction.
• Insight into which changes require thorough review and which do not, based on system functionality.
• A history of developing solutions that your team actively utilized, rather than just improvements that benefited your own workflow.
• The capability to articulate how your team interacts with AI agents, not just your personal approach.
• An intuitive sense of product design, user empathy, and the ambition to enhance Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• Self-motivated to advance the app and codebase beyond what is specified.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Completion of several technical interviews along with an assessment on a real codebase.
