This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of significant features from inception to launch alongside the design team.
• Manage, enhance, and uphold reliability metrics for essential features.
• Evaluate pull requests and offer constructive critiques.
• Remove obstacles for engineers and address team challenges.
• Standardize reusable solutions throughout the team.
• Ensure the maintenance of tested, clear, and consolidated shared components.
• Propel modifications to team processes.
• Minimize the need for manual intervention to ensure appropriate releases.
• Tackle recurring issues by refining foundational systems.
• Broaden automated verification and integrate testing earlier in the workflow.
• Lead planning sessions and prioritize work that requires decision-making.
• Establish review criteria and sign-off protocols.
• Engage in discussions involving Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Manage critical issues, oversee feature releases, and deliver nightly builds to QA.
• Foster learning and development for early-career engineers.
• Conduct technical interviews and evaluate candidates using a real codebase as part of the hiring process.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership of a team or ownership of significant features while remaining hands-on.
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Kotlin Coroutines, Kotlin Flow, Dagger 2, MVVM, Clean Architecture, Background Services, Music Player Service, Android animations, Jetpack Navigation, and JUnit tests.
• Experience in shipping and maintaining background audio or other long-duration background tasks.
• Knowledge of the significance of tests and strategies for writing them, including aspects that cannot be tested.
• An example of a contribution you made to a team that continued after your involvement, along with an honest reflection on the cost of achieving that change.
• Comfort in prompting colleagues to adjust their work methods and managing the resulting friction.
• An informed perspective on which changes necessitate extensive review and which do not, based on the system's functionality.
• A proven history of developing solutions that your team actively utilized.
• Capability to articulate how your team collaborates with AI agents.
• An instinct for product design, empathy for users, and a desire to elevate Android UI/UX beyond the specifications.
• Initiative to enhance the app and codebase beyond what is outlined in the specifications.
