Senior Instructional Design Reviewer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Conduct independent senior reviews of both existing and newly created course materials in instructional design.

• Evaluate the alignment between course objectives, Terminal Performance Objectives (TPOs), Enabling Objectives (EOs), instructional content, activities, and desired learner outcomes.

• Analyze course structure, instructional sequencing, pacing, learner engagement, and effectiveness of adult learning.

• Review instructor guides, student syllabi, presentations, activities, exercises, and related curriculum documentation for coherence and usability.

• Assess instructor guides for clarity, practicality in facilitation, instructions for activities, and consistency with presentation content.

• Examine slide-level discussion points and instructional guidance for relevance and usefulness to instructors.

• Review interactive PowerPoint features and reference materials for instructional effectiveness and consistency.

• Assist in quality assurance reviews concerning Section 508 compliance and accessible instructional design practices.

• Evaluate instructional products prior to Government submission, identifying inconsistencies, omissions, or quality issues that need rectification.

• Provide senior-level guidance to the Lead ISD regarding intricate instructional design inquiries.

• Aid in addressing Government feedback that impacts instructional design, objective alignment, course structure, or usability.

• Review updated materials after the incorporation of comments to ensure that necessary modifications were executed correctly.

• Promote consistency across courses in terminology, instructional conventions, document structure, and presentation style.

• Take part in selected Government or Subject Matter Expert (SME) working sessions where senior instructional design review would be beneficial.

• Collaborate closely with the Lead ISD while maintaining an independent quality review function.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Training and Development, Educational Technology, Organizational Development, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be accepted.

• Over 7 years of progressively responsible experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or training development.

• Advanced understanding of ADDIE or another established instructional design methodology.

• Proven experience in reviewing complex instructor-led training and curriculum development products.

• Significant experience in evaluating the alignment of learning objectives with instructional content, activities, and assessments.

• Experience in reviewing instructor guides, student materials, presentations, exercises, and curriculum documentation.

• Familiarity with adult learning principles as they apply to instructional design review.

• Ability to identify instructional inconsistencies, usability challenges, and design risks while recommending practical corrective actions.

• Strong skills in writing, editing, analysis, and quality control.

• Capable of effective collaboration with instructional designers, technical SMEs, and Government stakeholders.

• Preferred: Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, Adult Learning, or a related discipline.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting federal training or curriculum development initiatives.

• Preferred: Experience in maritime, transportation, security, public safety, military, critical infrastructure, or law enforcement training.

• Preferred: Experience working with international or culturally diverse learner communities.

• Preferred: Experience in reviewing Section 508-compliant instructional materials.

• Preferred: Experience with interactive or technology-enhanced instructional resources.

• Preferred: Experience in conducting formal instructional design quality assurance or peer review.

• Preferred: Familiarity with maritime or port security training environments.
