Senior Infrastructure Test Engineer, DevOps

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain automated testing frameworks for AWS infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment processes.

• Assess infrastructure modifications across VPCs, subnets, routing, NAT gateways, IAM, security groups, load balancers, and other related AWS services.

• Create automated tests for Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or comparable infrastructure-as-code solutions.

• Integrate validation into CI/CD pipelines to detect infrastructure, configuration, and deployment issues prior to production release.

• Evaluate containerized and Kubernetes-based environments for functionality, resilience, configuration, and security.

• Confirm infrastructure hardening and security controls align with relevant STIG, CIS, and compliance standards.

• Develop automated integration, regression, smoke, performance, and failure-recovery tests for platform and infrastructure updates.

• Ensure Keeper applications and services function correctly as the underlying infrastructure and deployment configurations evolve.

• Examine logs, metrics, and telemetry to diagnose failures and generate clear, reproducible defect reports.

• Collaborate with DevOps and Platform engineers to identify testing gaps, enhance infrastructure testability, and automate repetitive validation workflows.

• Assist in audit readiness and compliance validation by delivering repeatable test results and technical evidence.

• Utilize AI-assisted tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms to enhance test development, debugging, root-cause analysis, documentation, and workflow efficiency.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as an SDET, Software Engineer in Test, Infrastructure Test Engineer, or a similar automation-focused engineering position.

• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure and networking, including VPCs, subnets, routing, NAT gateways, security groups, and IAM.

• In-depth experience in testing or validating infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar technologies.

• Proficiency in Python, Bash, Go, or another language utilized for test automation and infrastructure validation.

• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar platforms.

• Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Strong comprehension of infrastructure testing, configuration validation, integration testing, and failure-recovery scenarios.

• Experience diagnosing cloud and infrastructure issues through logs, metrics, and observability platforms such as Datadog.

• Familiarity with security hardening and compliance standards such as CIS benchmarks, DISA STIGs, FedRAMP, SOC 2, or ISO 27001.

• Solid understanding of Git-based development workflows and automated software delivery practices.

• Ability to collaborate closely with DevOps, Platform Engineering, Security, and Compliance teams to resolve complex technical challenges.

• Willingness and capability to effectively utilize AI-assisted tools to enhance test automation, debugging, technical analysis, and documentation.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Preferred: experience validating infrastructure in FedRAMP High, DoD, IL5, or similarly regulated cloud environments.

• Preferred: experience with automated infrastructure testing frameworks such as Terratest, pytest, or similar tools.

• Preferred: experience testing Kubernetes infrastructure, container security, or deployment resilience.

• Preferred: familiarity with vulnerability scanning, compliance drift detection, or SIEM integrations.

• Preferred: experience with AWS GovCloud and/or Azure Government.

• Preferred: familiarity with secrets management, IAM, PAM, or zero-trust security architectures.
