QA Automation Engineer II – IntelliScript

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Design, document, maintain, and execute test cases for new features, enhancements, integrations, and regression coverage.

• Conduct functional, exploratory, integration, smoke, regression, and end-to-end testing across web interfaces and APIs.

• Validate user workflows, business rules, field behavior, navigation, error handling, usability, and cross-browser compatibility.

• Test REST APIs using Postman, encompassing requests, responses, status codes, payloads, authentication, validation rules, and negative scenarios.

• Utilize SQL, logs, and diagnostic information to validate data and investigate issues across various application layers.

• Review requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical designs to pinpoint gaps, edge cases, dependencies, and quality risks.

• Create precise, reproducible defect reports detailing expected and actual results, evidence, business impact, and severity.

• Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot issues, verify fixes, and assess regression coverage.

• Maintain test cases, execution results, and traceability in Zephyr or a comparable test management tool.

• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, demonstrations, and retrospectives.

• Provide insights on release readiness, unresolved risks, and recommended follow-up testing.

• Identify test scenarios that are suitable for automation.

• Execute and review automated test suites, troubleshoot basic failures, and partner with automation-focused engineers.

• Contribute to UI or API automation over time.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in software quality assurance or software testing.

• Strong hands-on experience in manually testing web-based applications.

• Proficiency in testing APIs using Postman or a similar tool.

• Ability to create test cases, test scenarios, and exploratory test charters based on requirements and acceptance criteria.

• Experience with functional, integration, regression, negative, and end-to-end testing methodologies.

• Familiarity with documenting and managing defects in Jira or a similar tracking tool.

• Basic knowledge of SQL for test data setup, backend validation, or defect investigation.

• Experience utilizing generative AI tools to support software testing activities, ensuring appropriate review and validation of AI-generated outputs.

• Experience working in an Agile or Scrum delivery team.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Capability to learn unfamiliar business workflows and technical systems with appropriate guidance.

• Willingness to travel to the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI as needed, and for nationwide meetings, conferences, and team events.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future immigration support or sponsorship.

• Experience with Zephyr, TestRail, or another test management platform is advantageous.

• Exposure to UI or API test automation is beneficial.

• Familiarity with Playwright, RestSharp, Reqnroll, Selenium, or similar technologies is a plus.

• Basic programming or scripting experience in C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Python, or a comparable language is an asset.

• Experience executing automated tests through a CI/CD pipeline is desirable.

• Experience using generative AI tools for test design, test data creation, defect analysis, or automation is an added advantage.

• Experience testing SaaS or other complex business applications is a plus.
