This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Collaborate with leaders from Engineering, GTM, and Operations on strategies related to workforce planning, organizational design, and team health.
• Provide coaching to managers on expectations, feedback, performance recognition, managing underperformance, and cultivating high-performing teams.
• Oversee and enhance the employee lifecycle processes, which encompass onboarding, performance management, promotions, development, and offboarding.
• Drive People programs such as performance evaluations, calibration sessions, engagement initiatives, feedback systems, manager support, and employee communications.
• Define and uphold Protege’s core values of ownership, urgency, rigorous execution, kindness, and transparency.
• Collaborate with the executive team and hiring managers on decisions regarding compensation, leveling, and promotions.
• Act as a confidential advisor for employees and managers, managing employee relations, conflict resolution, and sensitive situations.
• Develop scalable People Operations infrastructure, which includes policies, HRIS practices, compliance documentation, and resources for managers.
• Work alongside the Talent team on hiring, interviewing, and enhancing the candidate experience.
• Ensure compliance of people practices across different jurisdictions, involving external counsel when necessary.
• Shape the culture and performance agenda, own essential People programs, initiate performance and feedback frameworks, lead company-wide calibration efforts, and deliver strategic People roadmaps.
• Extensive experience as an HRBP or in People leadership roles within a high-growth, high-accountability startup environment—preferably in technology, AI, data, or similarly dynamic sectors.
• Proven history of developing and scaling people programs, including performance management, manager enablement, employee engagement, compensation, leveling, and the overall employee lifecycle.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to align people initiatives with company goals, team effectiveness, and business results.
• Capability to work independently in ambiguous settings and quickly establish structure without unnecessary complexity.
• Demonstrated ability to gain trust and credibility with executives, managers, and individual contributors.
• Direct and thoughtful communication style, along with the confidence to challenge leaders, provide constructive feedback, and handle conflict with care.
• In-depth knowledge of employment law and compliance essentials.
• Willingness to engage at all levels, from advising on team structure to addressing employee issues and developing resources for managers.
