This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Spearhead an overarching HSEQ strategy, establish standards, scalable processes, and ensure project-specific implementation across EPC/EPCM projects.

• Provide expert advice to Project Directors and EPC/EPCM leadership teams on HSEQ issues.

• Propel the integration of Ramboll’s HSEQ program, adapting requirements into project-level controls and leadership routines.

• Offer HSEQ guidance during proposal submissions and contract negotiations.

• Define the organizational structure for HSEQ, including roles, responsibilities, interfaces, and governance models.

• Create standardized HSEQ execution plans that span engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover phases.

• Set expectations for construction readiness concerning contractor mobilization, competency assurance, risk reviews, and field execution.

• Ensure alignment of HSEQ expectations among contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and third-party stakeholders.

• Lead the onboarding of contractors, conduct alignment sessions, audits, and performance reviews.

• Integrate HSEQ requirements into contracting strategies, procurement packages, bid documents, mobilization plans, and contractor management processes.

• Provide governance and assurance over hazard identification, construction risk assessments, high-risk work reviews, and site controls.

• Evaluate controls for high-risk activities such as lifting, electrical work, confined space entry, work at height, ground disturbance, energisation, commissioning, and simultaneous operations.

• Assist in incident oversight, escalation procedures, investigations, and the implementation of lessons learned.

• Conduct site visits, leadership engagements, and assurance reviews.

• Mentor project and contractor leadership teams, fostering proactive safety behaviors, psychological safety, learning, and continuous improvement.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, client requirements, and Ramboll HSEQ standards.

• Represent Ramboll during client audits, regulatory inspections, and EPC/EPCM governance meetings.

• Develop HSEQ performance reporting utilizing both leading and lagging indicators.

• Convert performance data into actionable insights, recommendations, and strategies for stakeholders.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 10 years of progressive on-site HSEQ leadership experience with significant exposure to large-scale EPC/EPCM projects.

• A solid background in supporting multi-contractor, high-risk industrial construction settings.

• Proven ability to influence others without direct authority.

• Experience in supporting construction management delivery models through contractor execution and client/contractor interface management.

• Familiarity with construction-phase HSEQ controls, contractor management, incident investigation, assurance, and regulatory compliance.

• Willingness to travel regularly to various project locations.

• Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

• Preferred professional certifications include CSP, CMIOSH, NEBOSH, CRSP, or equivalent.

• Experience in energy transition, power, renewables, industrial decarbonization, chemicals, manufacturing, mining, or major infrastructure projects is preferred.

• Experience supporting owner’s EPC/EPCM models across multiple concurrent projects is preferred.

• International or remote project experience is an advantage.
