Senior HR Specialist, Employee Relations – APAC

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Oversee and address intricate employee exit processes across various international jurisdictions with minimal oversight.

• Offer expert advice on termination, resignation, transfer, employment contracts, and redundancy procedures while ensuring compliance with legal standards and best practices.

• Facilitate meetings with clients and external employees, which include workforce reduction consultations, administrative hearings, separation and settlement negotiations, and discussions regarding termination outcomes.

• Negotiate and influence favorable results in complex termination scenarios that involve stakeholders with differing interests.

• Collaborate with payroll, legal advisors, government entities, trade unions, and other relevant parties to ensure compliance and conduct audits during the offboarding process.

• Create, customize, and manage termination and supplementary documents while safeguarding confidential employee information.

• Manage offboarding processes within Remote’s internal HRIS platform in conjunction with Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and Time and Attendance teams.

• Serve as an informal escalation point, offering expertise, mentorship, and guidance to junior team members.

• Deliver first-level Employee Relations support and advice regarding workplace issues.

• Conduct initial evaluations of workplace concerns, identifying relevant facts, regulations, and potential resolutions.

• Monitor and track employee relations cases and ensure timely follow-up actions.

• Address internal and external inquiries related to offboarding and first-level employee relations issues.

• Propel process enhancements, automation, product development, and improvements in customer and employee experiences.

• Establish methods, procedures, and standards for new tasks and adapt complex techniques to achieve desired outcomes.

• Report directly to the Manager Employee Lifecycle, Employee Relations & Transitions.


⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience as an HR Advisor or HR Business Partner, possessing generalist HR skills and familiarity with the employee lifecycle.

• Proven track record in independently managing voluntary and involuntary exits (terminations) with sensitivity, care, and adherence to legal compliance.

• Experience in providing thorough HR advice and guidance on employment laws and regulations across diverse jurisdictions.

• Knowledge of employee relations principles, progressive discipline strategies, and fundamentals of workplace investigations.

• Ability to interpret and implement industrial instruments and analyze multifaceted HR challenges.

• Capability to research, convert findings into practical resources for the team, and offer actionable recommendations.

• Exceptional communication, influencing, conflict resolution, and negotiation abilities.

• Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English at a business level.

• Strong inclination toward process innovation, optimization, automation, and implementation of best practices.

• Efficiency in operations, meticulous record-keeping, and ensuring data integrity.

• Tech-savvy with the ability to collaborate asynchronously using various tools and adapt to changing systems.

• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, international, asynchronous, remote environment while managing competing priorities.

• Openness to flexible working hours as necessary.

• Strong capabilities in automation and AI, along with fluency in AI concepts.

• Tertiary qualifications in HR, labor relations, or employment law are considered advantageous (optional).
