Senior Hardware/Software Installation Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Perform physical site assessments at military facilities to verify power, space, cooling/HVAC, and connectivity needs.

• Evaluate existing fiber/copper cabling, patch panels, and conduits to identify upgrade necessities.

• Create Site Survey Reports (SSRs) and Installation Design Plans (IDPs), which include floor plans, rack elevation diagrams, and power calculations.

• Produce Bills of Materials (BOMs) for procurement and logistics purposes.

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot routers, switches, cryptographic devices, UPS units, and related software/firmware.

• Load and configure Windows/Linux operating systems, applying DoD system baselines such as STIGs.

• Conduct burn-in testing and system validation prior to final acceptance.

• Troubleshoot interoperability issues between field hardware/software and backend engineering teams.

• Generate and maintain engineering drawings using Microsoft Visio or AutoCAD.

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and military installation access protocols during field activities.

• Provide After Action Reports (AARs) and daily status updates while traveling to the Prime.

• Mentor junior technicians and liaise with the Project Manager, PMO, and Government Points of Contact (POCs).

• Ensure team members stay updated on mandatory training and certifications.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT/Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in hardware/software integration and structured cabling.

• Demonstrated experience conducting site surveys in DoD or Federal Government environments.

• Proficient in Microsoft Visio for developing network diagrams and rack elevations.

• Solid understanding of power requirements, including NEMA plugs, UPS sizing, and BTU calculations.

• Familiarity with fiber optic and copper cabling standards, encompassing single-mode, multi-mode, and CAT6.

• Active Secret Clearance is required; Top Secret is preferred.

• Must be willing to travel 90% of the time for CONUS and potentially OCONUS assignments.

• Capability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Ability to work in confined spaces, such as server closets and raised floors.

• BICSI Technician or RCDD certification is preferred.

• Experience with US Army Signal Brigade, DISA, or DoDIN network installation/modernization is preferred.

• Computer Aided Design (CAD) Information Technology knowledge is preferred.
