Senior FullStack Engineer – Real User Monitoring, RUM

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance fullstack RUM functionalities that encompass frontend user interactions, backend services, APIs, and data storage systems.

• Architect and implement systems designed to ingest, store, and query telemetry data with high cardinality and volume through columnar or analytical databases.

• Create efficient query layers and APIs for real-time analysis of user sessions, traces, and events.

• Contribute to frontend applications that showcase RUM data, aiding users in troubleshooting performance issues and gaining insights into user behavior.

• Engage in data modeling, indexing strategies, and query optimization to facilitate low-latency and cost-effective analytics at scale.

• Collaborate with engineers from browser and mobile SDK teams on data ingestion and schema evolution.

• Oversee projects from initial design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvements.

• Decompose complex challenges into manageable deliverables and iterate based on stakeholder feedback.

• Maintain quality through testing, ensuring system observability, documentation, and seamless upgrade pathways.

• Work alongside backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering teams.

• Assist colleagues, engage in technical design discussions, and contribute to the shaping of the RUM roadmap.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of fullstack engineering experience with a solid foundation in frontend development.

• Proficient in frontend technologies, specifically TypeScript and React.

• Experience in backend development, with a preference for Go.

• Familiarity with building or managing distributed systems in a production environment, such as Kafka, WarpStream, Apache Pinot, ClickHouse, Cassandra, or Postgres.

• Knowledge of cloud-native technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Experience working with high-throughput, high-cardinality data types, like logs, metrics, traces, or events.

• Strong understanding of data modeling, query optimization, and performance trade-offs.

• Proven experience in designing and building APIs and distributed services.

• Background in creating data-intensive user interfaces, such as dashboards, query tools, or debugging interfaces.

• Familiarity with observability principles and/or OpenTelemetry.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a remote, distributed team environment.

• Self-motivated, pragmatic, and comfortable operating in uncertain situations.
