Senior Financial Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the month-end closing process for designated entities, preparing, posting, and reviewing payroll, depreciation, accruals, prepayments, and other journals according to a strict closing schedule.

• Ensure audit-ready balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation, investigating and resolving any reconciling discrepancies.

• Oversee and provide guidance on the work of the Accounts Payable Specialist, including supplier, bank, and credit card reconciliations, as well as coding and cut-off procedures.

• Prepare and reconcile payroll-related journals and balances, incorporating leave provisions and employee-related accruals.

• Manage the fixed asset register and the schedules for prepayments and amortization.

• Handle intercompany balances and the multi-currency/revaluation processes across the Group.

• Assist with VAT and statutory accounting obligations for entities in the Netherlands, USA, Portugal, and UK, collaborating with external advisors as necessary.

• Report directly to the Financial Controller.

⛳️ Requirements

• Fully qualified accountant — CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.

• Over 4 years of post-qualification/post-articles experience in financial accounting, preferably within a commercial, multi-entity framework.

• Practical experience with month-end journals, general ledger accounting, and balance sheet reconciliations.

• Experience with NetSuite is highly advantageous (or a similar multi-entity ERP); strong Excel skills are essential.

• Experience in reviewing the work of a bookkeeper or member of the accounts payable team is a plus.

• A detail-oriented, self-sufficient individual capable of managing recurring deadlines, questioning unsupported figures, and communicating clearly and concisely.
