Senior Finance & Accounting Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and refine accounting procedures in accordance with IFRS/US GAAP and regulations specific to the sports industry.

• Implement controls for month-end closing, consolidations, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

• Create FP&A frameworks that encompass budgeting, forecasting, scenario analysis, and revenue modeling.

• Assess revenue streams related to sports, including ticket sales, sponsorships, broadcasting, merchandising, and commercial income.

• Generate executive and management reports that provide clear, actionable financial insights.

• Address intricate accounting issues such as player contract accounting, transfer fee amortization, deferred income, salary structures, and audit inquiries.

• Offer technical accounting advice for complex or unclear transactions.

• Ensure financial compliance with league, governing body, and sports regulatory standards.

• Draft financial narratives, presentations, and recommendations intended for C-suite executives, Boards, investors, and other external stakeholders.

• Simplify complex finance and accounting concepts into understandable business language for non-finance audiences.

• Collaborate with multi-shore teams and external partners to guarantee effective solution delivery.

• Report daily to the Solutions Team and maintain overall accountability for solution delivery to the Head of Business Unit.

• Engage extensively with multi-shore teams and occasionally liaise with external clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–7+ years of experience in Finance & Accounting.

• Significant experience with professional sports clubs, leagues, federations, or sports organizations.

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP.

• Practical experience in player/athlete contract accounting, transfer fees and amortization, salary caps or compensation structures, sponsorship and kit revenue, stadium/venue financials, broadcasting, and commercial revenue.

• Experience in supporting senior leadership, C-suite executives, Boards, or investors.

• Excellent financial modeling, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• Capacity to create concise, executive-level financial reports and presentations.

• Familiarity with UEFA Financial Sustainability Rules or similar sports financial regulations is preferred.

• CPA, ACCA, CIMA, CA, or an equivalent professional qualification is preferred.

• Previous experience with Big 4 firms or specialized sports finance advisory practices is preferred.

• Proficiency with SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or other ERP/FP&A platforms is preferred.

• Experience with multi-currency consolidation and international tax structures is preferred.

• Familiarity with AI-enabled finance solutions, customized ERP platforms, or finance transformation initiatives is preferred.
