This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Guide and mentor a team of software engineers focused on creating scalable machine learning infrastructure.
• Establish and oversee the technical strategy for data generation, orchestration, and distributed training over multiple quarters.
• Represent the Scalable ML team in organization-wide planning and architectural decisions.
• Address cross-team trade-offs related to GPU scheduling and quotas, job orchestration, storage, and compute costs.
• Promote advanced MLOps practices, encompassing model artifact management, experiment tracking, and automated model deployment and testing.
• Forge technical collaborations with ML Platform, Jobs Platform, Cloud Platform, and HPC teams.
• Uphold high reliability standards, ensuring that cross-team incidents are identified, resolved, and prevented.
• Oversee the Scalable ML team and act as a technical liaison among various organizations.
• A Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience or a Master's degree with 8 years of experience in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of experience in software development, including a minimum of 5 years in a Staff/Principal engineering or senior technical leadership position.
• Proven experience in establishing technical strategy and direction across multiple teams or organizations.
• Significant experience in designing, building, and managing large-scale distributed systems and cloud infrastructure for machine learning, including shared compute dependencies like GPU scheduling/quotas, job orchestration, and multi-tenant clusters.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing and enhancing machine learning data pipelines, covering data generation, management, and distributed training.
• Strong command of Python for crafting high-performance, production-ready software.
• Proven ability to influence and align peer teams and leadership without direct authority.
• History of delivering complex, multi-organizational software projects from inception to production, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and alignment with organizational goals.
• Candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis.
