Senior Engineering Manager, Database

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants anywhere in the world.

📋 Description

• Lead, develop, and mentor a globally distributed team of database internals engineers. You are responsible for hiring, performance management, career progression, and team well-being.

• Oversee team execution and establish the technical roadmap in collaboration with Product, managing prioritization while balancing speed, quality, and long-term sustainability.

• Collaborate closely with the Platform Engineering team and other engineering leaders to create an exceptional experience for our customers on Tiger Cloud.

• Interact with high-value customers on escalations and advanced technical requirements, translating their feedback into priorities for your team.

• Be an enthusiastic and approachable leader who sets high standards and aids the broader engineering organization in achieving success.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of engineering experience, including at least 4 years of managing engineers or engineering teams.

• Proven history of building and leading high-performing teams that deliver industrial-strength systems software.

• Strong technical expertise in distributed systems or databases; experience with C/C++ on large codebases is highly desirable, though not mandatory.

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL internals is a significant advantage (but not essential).

• Comprehensive knowledge of SQL, query processing, database engines, concurrency control, data replication, and/or distributed systems.

• A passion for developing highly reliable system software and nurturing the people who create it.
