This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.
• Lead the Accounts Engineering team, which is part of the Clients & Accounts Platform.
• Oversee approximately 8 full-stack developers.
• Recruit, mentor, manage performance, and promote senior individual contributors.
• Develop a high-velocity, high-quality full-stack engineering team.
• Drive consensus on the team's architectural vision.
• Ensure that projects are in line with the team's architectural strategy.
• Collaborate with Product and Data Science teams to outline the roadmap and allocate resources for projects.
• Make prioritization choices when project demand surpasses available capacity.
• Review, evaluate, and contribute to technical planning efforts.
• Steer projects through to launch without unforeseen issues.
• Take ownership of operational excellence, which includes reliability, on-call health, SLAs, and daily delivery quality.
• Promote AI-assisted engineering across various workflows, including planning, code reviews, and incident responses.
• Develop new account types, such as Business Accounts and RESPs.
• Define essential account configurations and evolve the account domain model.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience managing high-performance software development teams through multiple successful product launches, with a focus on coaching and developing senior and staff individual contributors.
• Strong background in full-stack development.
• Expertise in system design.
• Depth in front-end technologies is advantageous.
• Ability to make substantial contributions during design reviews and identify gaps in project plans.
• A "ship it" mentality with high standards for pace, iteration, and quality.
• Proven experience in building teams from scratch, including hiring, managing performance, and promoting team members.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and make decisive prioritization choices.
• Metrics-driven approach.
• Possess an AI-first mindset and experience incorporating AI into work processes.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to negotiate priorities, set stakeholder expectations, and manage relationships across various levels.
• Experience in the fintech or banking sector is a plus.
• Experience managing both platform and product teams is also a plus.
• Hands-on experience with Rails, Kotlin, and/or React is desirable.
• Extensive experience in both backend and frontend development is a plus.
• Comfort with writing SQL is desirable.
• Must be a permanent resident of Canada or the United States and legally eligible to work in either country.
