Senior Engineer – Tooling Design Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Develop Reactor Modification Tooling that integrates mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical/motor actuation systems.

• Create fabrication drawings and oversee the construction and testing of the designed tooling.

• Generate 3D models, conduct access and clearance evaluations, and prepare drawings, specifications, and test plans.

• Work collaboratively with teams from Hardware, Analysis, Field Deployment, and Services Business.

• Conduct design reviews alongside engineering colleagues and leadership.

• Document tooling operation procedures for field deployment personnel.

• Offer immediate issue support to clients during Outage Season by delivering technical advice and facilitating a rapid design, build, and test process.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.

• At least 10 years of experience in mechanical design and testing, with proficiency in 2D drawings and 3D modeling.

• 5 years of experience in the nuclear industry.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Capability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information, if required.

• Strong mechanical skills and knowledge.

• Experience with the entire design evolution process, from concept creation to delivery.

• Understanding of cost-effective design and manufacturability principles.

• Familiarity with conventional machining, welding, and EDM processes.

• Ability to interpret and convey technical information to engineers, project managers, product managers, and leadership.

• Proven experience in project planning, scheduling, and execution as an engineer or engineering team leader.

• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams on innovative projects.

• Preferred experience and understanding of nuclear reactor components within the nuclear industry.
