Senior Employee Relations Specialist, APAC

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.

📋 Description

• Oversee and resolve intricate employee exits from start to finish across various international jurisdictions.

• Offer expert guidance on termination, resignation, transfer protocols, employment agreements, redundancy procedures, employment legislation, and industry best practices.

• Lead meetings with clients and external employees independently, covering workforce reduction consultations, administrative hearings, separation negotiations, settlements, and termination results.

• Negotiate and influence favorable outcomes in complex termination scenarios.

• Liaise with payroll, legal counsel, government entities, trade unions, and other key stakeholders.

• Draft, customize, and manage termination and supplementary documents.

• Ensure employee records are maintained in accordance with privacy and confidentiality regulations.

• Execute offboarding processes within Remote’s internal HRIS platform.

• Collaborate with Customer Success, Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and Time and Attendance teams.

• Mentor and support junior team members as the initial point of informal escalation.

• Provide first-level Employee Relations guidance and resources.

• Evaluate workplace issues, identify relevant regulations, and outline potential solutions.

• Advise clients on progressive discipline, documentation, and challenging workplace scenarios.

• Monitor and track employee relations cases and ensure follow-up coordination.

• Address offboarding and initial employee relations inquiries.

• Identify and implement process improvements, automation, product development, and enhancements to both customer and employee experiences.

• Establish methods, procedures, and standards for new assignments and adapt complex techniques to deliver results.

• Report directly to the Manager of Employee Lifecycle, Employee Relations & Transitions.


⛳️ Requirements

• Experience as an HR Advisor or HR Business Partner, with a comprehensive understanding of generalist HR competencies throughout the employee lifecycle.

• Demonstrated ability to independently manage both voluntary and involuntary exits (terminations) with care, sensitivity, and adherence to legal standards.

• Experience in providing thorough HR advice and guidance on employment laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions.

• Knowledge of employee relations principles, progressive discipline strategies, and fundamental workplace investigation techniques.

• Proficiency in interpreting and applying industrial instruments and analyzing complex HR matters.

• Capacity to autonomously research, develop practical team resources, offer actionable solutions, and communicate recommendations effectively.

• Excellent skills in communication, influencing, conflict resolution, and negotiation.

• Business-level (advanced) proficiency in both written and spoken English.

• Strong inclination towards process innovation, optimization, automation, and implementation of best practices.

• High efficiency in operations, meticulous record-keeping, and maintaining data integrity.

• Tech-savvy with the ability to collaborate asynchronously using evolving systems.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, asynchronous, international, remote setting while managing competing priorities.

• Willingness to work flexible hours as required.

• Strong capabilities in automation and fluency in AI technologies.

• Tertiary qualifications in HR, labour relations, or employment law are considered advantageous.
