
Senior Embedded Software Engineer – Test Automation

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Create test methods and procedures to facilitate the transition of products from design to mass production.
• Design automated testing solutions, frameworks, and fixtures for both software and hardware validation, encompassing integration, unit, and system tests within a comprehensive testing framework.
• Conduct regression, performance, stress, and reliability testing for FORT devices, whether manually or through automation.
• Develop test plans, procedures, and documentation to ensure reliable and repeatable testing processes.
• Collaborate with both internal and external hardware and software design teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve firmware and electrical hardware challenges.
• Participate in design reviews and establish testability criteria early in the product development cycle.
• Assist the product engineering team in the development and maintenance of R&D test environments.
• Partner with manufacturing associates to create and document hardware and software production testing protocols.
• Provide technical support to production and program management for special customer orders.
• Participate in re-engineering existing designs to enhance quality and manufacturability.
• Engage directly with customers at their locations to ensure their success through hands-on enablement.
• Over 5 years of experience in designing and implementing tests for intricate embedded products.
• More than 2 years of experience in embedded software test automation and the development of test frameworks.
• Proficient in Python and Bash scripting.
• Experience with data manipulation libraries such as NumPy and Pandas.
• Familiarity with validation processes and infrastructures for hardware and software, including Hardware-in-the-loop and Software-in-the-loop testing.
• Understanding of Docker containerization.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools like GitLab and Jenkins.
• Proficient in Git version control systems.
• Experience in designing custom hardware and software tools or fixtures for testing embedded systems.
• Familiar with wired networking technologies such as Ethernet, CAN, and UART.
• Knowledge of wireless networking technologies including BLE, Wi-Fi, and LTE.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and provide updates to various stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills to convey solutions, ideas, and processes to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Expertise in Pytest/test frameworks and principles of scaling system design.
• Familiarity with programming in C++ and MATLAB.
• Experienced with requirement management tools such as Jama and Polarion, including requirement testing.
• Background in custom hardware design.
• Knowledge of safety standards like IEC 61508 and ISO 26262.
• A preferred degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
