This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee and manage the complete design of HV/EHV substations along with a multi-discipline technical project team.

• Direct all technical facets of AC power substation projects while executing design work personally.

• Act as the primary technical authority on scheduling, adherence to standards and specifications, value engineering, design review planning, and quality assurance and control.

• Create and supervise power single-line diagrams.

• Prepare and manage general substation arrangement drawings, which encompass layouts, elevations, grounding, conduit/trench, cable routing, detail drawings, and control building layouts.

• Develop and manage high-voltage bus, structures, equipment, and detailed arrangements.

• Serve as the sole contact for technical inquiries among customers, vendors, project managers, and engineering teams.

• Guide and assist engineers, designers, and subcontracted resources to ensure adherence to specifications, budgets, and timelines.

• Foster cross-discipline collaboration for cohesive substation solutions.

• Review and contribute to conceptual engineering, proposal documentation, BOMs, technical specifications, sourcing support, vendor quotation assessment, and technical clarifications and assumptions.

• Lead the creation of high-voltage equipment specifications and contractor work scopes.

• Support vendor engagement and equipment selection, which may include overseeing subcontracted design work scopes.

• Assist the manager in enhancing team productivity and billable utilization.

• Ensure engineering deliverables meet customer CTQs and are completed on schedule and within budget.

• Support commissioning processes and facilitate communication between customers and project stakeholders.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.

• At least 12 years of experience in industrial or utility High Voltage (+138kV) substation design, or a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% (including international travel), in accordance with company travel and tax policies.

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the U.S. with good standing and capability to obtain licensure in other states.

• Willingness to review and endorse drawings under their supervision.

• Experience with EHV substation design standards.

• Proficiency in Transmission & Distribution substation engineering, utility and renewable energy, primary outdoor substation design, calculations, electrical protection, and industrial power system design (12.5 kV and above).

• Expertise in battery sizing, DC system design, AC auxiliary power, power transformer and circuit breaker selection, conductor sizing and application, grounding, lightning protection, and insulation coordination.

• Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC standards.

• Experience in field-testing and commissioning, with a strong emphasis on safety.

• Strong skills in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.

• Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness in customer-facing roles.

• Proficient in AutoCAD/MicroStation and design automation tools.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

• Successful completion of a drug screening, if applicable.
