Senior Electrical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Develop a design foundation by evaluating project specifications, technical requirements, and customer expectations.

• Design electrical systems and determine component and system ratings to align with client needs and industry standards, including the National Electrical Code.

• Size and specify power distribution equipment, such as conductors, panelboards, switchboards, transformers, and conduits.

• Create and assess power distribution diagrams and technical drawings utilizing CAD software.

• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software engineers, project managers, and utility engineers.

• Provide design recommendations and respond to client feedback.

• Ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems to achieve project goals.

• Conduct detailed calculations, simulations, and testing to validate design performance, reliability, and safety.

• Specify and select components, equipment, and materials based on project requirements and budget considerations.

• Prepare and deliver technical reports, documentation, and presentations to stakeholders, clients, and management.

• Mentor and guide junior engineers.

• Stay informed about trends, advancements, and regulations in the electrical engineering field to suggest enhancements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

• 7+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, concentrating on the design and development of electrical systems.

• Expertise in three-phase power systems equations to ascertain power distribution ratings and specifications.

• Experience with energy storage, renewable energy systems, and energy technologies, including photovoltaic energy storage, power distribution, and vehicle charging.

• Strong command of electrical engineering principles, theories, and methodologies.

• Proficient with CAD tools, simulation software such as MATLAB and Simulink, and electrical circuit analysis tools.

• Thorough understanding of electrical codes, regulations, and standards, including NEC and IEC.

• Proven ability to deliver complex electrical engineering projects from conception to completion.

• Experience in designing and troubleshooting electrical systems, including power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation.

• Proficient in conducting electrical calculations, load analysis, and short-circuit analysis.

• Familiarity with electrical safety practices and protocols.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration and technical presentations.

• Capability to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.

• Willingness to travel up to 60% as needed.

• Preferred: Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or eligibility for licensure.

• Preferred: Master's degree in a related field.

• Preferred: Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks efficiently.

• Preferred: Prior experience in Energy and Sustainability.
