Scientist, Electrical Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Evaluate modifications and repairs to aircraft conducted by L3Harris and issue approvals on behalf of the FAA when appropriate.

• Assess the electrical components of military aircraft modifications and repairs for adherence to military airworthiness certification standards, providing approval recommendations.

• Serve as the ODA Task Leader for projects, monitoring certification progress, timelines, budgets, and resolving issues.

• Facilitate strategic coordination between customers and applicants.

• Assist Unit Members, applicant teams, customers, and vendors in navigating complex certification processes.

• Contribute to the development of processes and standards for demonstrating and identifying compliance across various programs.

• Mentor candidates within the Unit pursuing FAA delegations.

• Collaborate with customers and program offices to confirm that aircraft meet FAA certification standards and are safe for flight.

• Oversee ODA and airworthiness programs as necessary.

• Carry out additional responsibilities assigned by the Supervisor.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree with twelve (12) years of experience in electrical aircraft systems.

• Graduate degree with ten (10) years of experience in electrical aircraft systems.

• Alternatively, a minimum of sixteen (16) years of experience in aircraft electrical systems in lieu of a degree.

• At least eight years of experience with existing 14 CFR Part 23 or Part 25 FAA delegations (DER or ODA UM).

• Must be able to successfully complete an FAA Class III flight physical.

• FAA ODA Unit Member status is mandatory.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

• Willingness to work overtime and travel up to 20% as required.

• Capability to obtain and maintain a DoW Secret Clearance.

• Familiarity with FAA Order 8110.101 Type Certification for Military Commercial Derivative Aircraft.

• Understanding of MIL-HDBK-516 military airworthiness certification criteria.

• Experience in safety analysis, lightning, or EWIS approvals.
