Senior E-commerce Accountant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Oversee daily accounting functions, including monthly closings, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, treasury assistance, and financial reporting.

• Take full responsibility for the accounts payable process in NetSuite, which encompasses bill entry, coding, purchase order matching, approvals, payment preparation, reconciliations, resolving discrepancies, payment runs, and remittance documentation.

• Manage invoicing and cash application for direct-to-consumer, retail, and commercial sales channels.

• Handle collections, resolve unapplied payments and credits, reconcile customer accounts, and provide commentary on accounts receivable aging.

• Supervise the monthly close process, preparing accruals, prepaid amortization, fixed asset and depreciation entries, recurring journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documents.

• Analyze and clarify significant month-over-month changes while enhancing the closing process.

• Record inventory receipts, investigate discrepancies in receiving, calculate and allocate landed costs, and ensure inventory subledgers are reconciled with the general ledger.

• Accrue and reconcile customs and tariff obligations while investigating inventory variances.

• Prepare borrowing base certificates, assist in credit facility reporting, monitor covenant requirements, and support the rolling 13-week cash forecast.

• Generate daily and weekly cash position reports across various bank accounts.

• Manage expense reports, corporate card coding, vendor onboarding documentation, finance files, master data, and the creation and maintenance of SOPs.

• Take ownership of accounts payable, accounts receivable, the closing process, inventory, and treasury operations, identifying opportunities for process improvements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.

• Demonstrated full-cycle accounting expertise.

• Experience managing a month-end close personally.

• Background in inventory accounting within manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, or e-commerce sectors.

• Proficient in NetSuite; experience with Sage Intacct, Dynamics 365 Business Central, or SAP Business One may also be accepted.

• Fluent in professional written and spoken English.

• Comfortable communicating directly with vendors and customers in the U.S.

• Advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets, including lookups, pivot tables, large-file reconciliations, and complex workbooks.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to independently investigate and resolve discrepancies.

• Preferred: experience with international imports, customs duties, tariffs, landed costs, and brokerage.

• Preferred: exposure to asset-based lending, borrowing base certificates, eligibility testing, or covenant reporting.

• Preferred: experience in multi-entity or multi-currency accounting and consolidation.

• Preferred: familiarity with Shopify or other e-commerce accounting systems.

• Preferred: Contador Público or an equivalent local accounting qualification.

• Availability for a minimum of 6 hours of daily overlap with U.S. Central Time.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
