This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +1 more country.
• Design and execute the donor communications strategy for the Latin America Region, Country Business Units, and Iconic Places.
• Collaborate with the Director of Donor Communications, Development colleagues, conservation teams, and regional leadership.
• Manage intricate, high-priority, and multi-country projects from strategy formulation to execution.
• Evaluate needs, clarify objectives and target audiences, propose narrative and positioning strategies, align stakeholders, and supervise execution, review, and assessment.
• Guide stakeholders in conveying conservation strategies, outcomes, funding requirements, and institutional priorities to philanthropic audiences.
• Address messaging challenges, reconcile competing inputs, and uphold donor relevance, accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and strategic alignment.
• Represent Donor Communications in regional, global, and cross-functional projects.
• Act on behalf of the Director in specified meetings, planning processes, and initiatives.
• Offer senior communications advice for fundraising opportunities, leadership engagements, campaigns, and institutional endeavors.
• Provide functional leadership for editorial standards, messaging frameworks, multilingual content, systems, processes, and capacity building.
• Oversee or lead funding proposals, concept notes, regional and country overviews, donor trip materials, stewardship reports, campaign collateral, presentations, impact reports, leadership messages, and other strategic donor communications products.
• Create a regional donor communications strategy, priorities, work plans, messaging frameworks, and content plans aligned with Development and conservation objectives.
• Counsel senior stakeholders on donor positioning, narrative strategy, audience needs, and emerging communication opportunities or challenges.
• Lead and coordinate complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives within highly matrixed environments across regional and global teams.
• Manage objectives, target audiences, timelines, roles, reviews, risks, and trade-offs.
• Provide functional oversight for editorial quality, multilingual content, regional messaging, major and principal gift communications, workflows, tools, standards, training, and vendor partnerships.
• Direct high-priority donor communications for cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, campaigns, and major or principal gift opportunities.
• Distill complex conservation, financial, programmatic, and stakeholder inputs into precise and engaging content in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
• Establish donor communications practices and standards across various countries in Latin America.
• Offer mentorship, guidance, and subject matter expertise to communications and development colleagues throughout the region.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, philanthropy, international affairs, conservation, or a related field, along with five to seven years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven experience in developing communications strategies and donor-focused fundraising materials that support cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, campaigns, and major gift opportunities.
• Demonstrated experience in advising senior stakeholders, influencing without direct authority, facilitating alignment among varying priorities, and presenting strategic recommendations.
• Experience in leading complex cross-functional, regional, or multi-country initiatives from planning through implementation while managing priorities, deadlines, reviews, and deliverables.
• Strong skills in writing, editing, storytelling, narrative strategy, synthesis, project management, problem-solving, and independent decision-making.
• Professional fluency in both English and Spanish.
• Advanced proficiency in Portuguese, including the ability to review materials, participate in meetings, and collaborate directly with Portuguese-speaking colleagues.
• Experience working across departments, functions, cultures, and geographical areas.
• Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion.
• Over seven years of progressively responsible experience in donor communications, fundraising communications, strategic communications, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience in supporting major or principal gift fundraising, institutional campaigns, complex donor engagement strategies, donor visits, senior leadership engagements, or stewardship initiatives (preferred).
• Familiarity with developing regional or multi-country communications for diverse cultural, philanthropic, and geographic audiences across Latin America and international donor markets (preferred).
• Experience serving as a deputy, senior adviser, or principal strategic partner to a communications or Development leader (preferred).
• Ability to interpret conservation outcomes, financial data, impact metrics, program results, and technical information for donor audiences (preferred).
• Knowledge of donor communications trends, visual storytelling, design best practices, content management systems, project management platforms, AI-assisted content tools, and digital collaboration technologies (preferred).
