
Senior Distribution Engineer – Electric Utilities

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Assess submitted electric and gas designs for adherence to utility standards, design methodologies, and construction specifications.
• Offer design review feedback, including redlines and written comments to designers, while ensuring corrective measures are implemented.
• Approve or decline design submissions based on their quality and compliance with utility requirements.
• Enter project materials into internal systems to create bills of materials.
• Collaborate with Planners, Project Managers, Construction, Engineering, Environmental, Permitting, and other relevant parties.
• Engage in project submittal and design review meetings.
• Submit environmental assessments and other necessary approvals to progress design projects.
• Examine final design packages, confirm deliverables, and prepare projects for supervisor endorsement.
• Complete work orders, conduct cost assessments and calculations, and finish job packaging.
• Initiate long-lead material processes and oversee construction reviews.
• Review and authorize field and design change orders, considering cost implications and construction effects.
• Ensure that projects conform to utility standard practices, tariff regulations, and relevant design and construction standards.
• Carry out additional duties as required.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in utility design.
• Experience in distribution design, encompassing both underground and overhead systems.
• Familiarity with industry regulations and standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Capability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once.
• Accurate time management skills.
• Previous experience in design review or QA/QC is preferred.
• Knowledge of GO95 & GO128 is a plus.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation is preferred.
• Experience in reconductor, cutover, or System Hardening Design is preferred.
• Familiarity with voltage drop, voltage flicker, and voltage rise is preferred.
• Fully remote work from home option.
