This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee build pipelines and assess support requirements for new services, platforms, and architectures.
• Sustain existing services, platforms, architectures, and GitLab components.
• Create and manage packages for various supported Linux distributions and architectures, including release activities.
• Design and maintain official GitLab container images and tools for component building.
• Empower development teams to incorporate components into GitLab packages via guides and self-service infrastructure.
• Collaborate with security teams to recognize and address vulnerabilities while ensuring dependencies are secure and current.
• Administer cloud marketplace listings and integrations with prominent cloud providers.
• Keep and evaluate installation, update, and upgrade documentation and processes prior to release.
• Guarantee license compliance across bundled dependencies.
• Submit components and packages to partners for validation and certification.
• Collaborate with development teams on new features and community packaging initiatives.
• Review merge requests, including updates for dependencies and security concerning bundled components.
• Proficient with Linux build toolchains such as autotools, make, CMake, and Nix.
• Experienced in building container images and utilizing container build tools in a production environment.
• Familiar with Debian- and Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based systems for building .deb and .rpm packages, as well as packaging cloud-native applications.
• Knowledgeable in continuous integration systems, including GitLab's CI feature, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Travis CI.
• Competent in writing and maintaining complex shell scripts within production settings.
• Skilled in communicating effectively in both written and spoken English in a remote, predominantly asynchronous work environment.
• Experience working with major cloud providers like Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Microsoft Azure.
• Additional experience with Ruby, Go, Python, or Rust, as well as observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana, would be advantageous.
