Senior Director – U.S. Advocacy and Society Relations, Hematologic Cancers

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with cancer patient advocacy groups and professional medical associations.

• Discover partnership opportunities and promote programs and policies that support the oncology portfolio.

• Act as Lilly's primary contact for significant patient advocacy organizations.

• Oversee memberships, sponsorships, and partnerships, ensuring that obligations and benefits are met.

• Collaborate with disease state teams to synchronize advocacy and society priorities with the franchise medical strategy.

• Incorporate patient and provider insights into the design of clinical trials, discussions on PRO endpoints, and communication of post-approval evidence.

• Tackle oncology patient access challenges through external relationships and collaborations.

• Work alongside Government Affairs and Policy on issues related to clinical trial access, rare disease designations, as well as coverage, access, and pricing policies.

• Oversee advocacy funding while ensuring adherence to regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.

• Facilitate executive involvement with oncology organizations and scientific congresses.

• Collaborate on post-congress debriefings and sentiment intelligence communications.

• Assist with internal training focused on the oncology patient experience and best practices in patient advocacy.

• Relay the significance of oncology patient advocacy initiatives to both internal and external stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.

• Over 5 years of experience working with patient advocacy and/or professional medical society organizations.

• Willingness to travel up to 35%, including occasional weekend travel for major oncology congresses and PAO events.

• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

• Lilly will not sponsor work authorization or visas.

• Proven ability to operate in external environments to cultivate relationships and promote policy or environment-shaping goals.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• A strong interest in and understanding of hematologic cancers is preferred.

• Experience or established connections in hematologic malignancies as well as with hematology advocacy groups and/or professional societies is preferred.

• Strong capabilities in strategic thinking, prioritization, problem-solving, and multitasking.

• Skills in relationship-building and influencing.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities; comfortable presenting to senior-level audiences.

• Experience in working with and communicating to executives.

• Proven ability to partner with and influence external stakeholders.

• Familiarity with healthcare policy and government affairs is preferred.

• Understanding of the oncology policy landscape and its implications for business priorities.

• A Master's or advanced degree in a related field is preferred.
